Sandy Got the Hiccups

Album: Singin' In Our Own Backyard

Lyrics

v1) Here’s a sad, sad story - it’s a crying shame ‘Bout a poor little girl, Sandy was her name One day she got the hiccups, nothing very new So here’s what she decided to do She drank a glass of water but those hiccups really got her And do you know what happened then?

CH: She still had the hiccups She still had the hiccups She still had the hiccups And she hiccuped the day away!

v2) So her brother said, “Sandy, I’ll tell you what to do We’ll have you hold your breath till your face turns blue Just hold your breath with me and I’m sure you will see That your hiccups will be history!” So she held her breath till she was close to death And do you know what happened then?

CHORUS

v3) So her brother said, “Sandy, I’ve got it at last I know how to get rid of those hiccups fast We’ll do like they do in the big city zoo And we’ll hop like a kangaroo!” So she hopped quite a few like a big kangaroo And do you know what happened then?

CHORUS

v4) So her brother said, “Sandy, I should have thought of this before I know how to get rid of those hiccups sure We’ll have you run in place till you’re red in the face And the hiccups will give up the chase!” So she ran in place till she was red in the face And do you know what happened then?

CHORUS

v5) So her brother built a rocket and aimed it at the moon “Don’t worry sister dear, you’ll be feelin’ fine soon We’ll just launch you up and see whether earth’s gravity Will pull those silly hiccups free” So the countdown was begun - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Blast-off!!! And do you know what happened then?

CHORUS

v6) That’s the last they saw of Sandy, so they say But the scientists are tracking her to this very day With their tele-laser probes and their audio strobes On lofty mountain tops around the globe And from the depths of deep space they sometimes detect a faint trace And do you know what they hear then?

CHORUS
